UPDATE: Apple Valley man pleads not guilty to 8-year-old son’s murder; bail set at $1 million

VICTORVILLE — The 38-year-old Apple Valley man accused of killing his 8-year-old son pleaded not guilty to murder Tuesday morning, court records show.

Shakir Omari Nunn appeared in a Victorville courtroom. Nunn was arrested last week after Dominic Nunn was pronounced dead at Desert Valley Hospital on Jan. 5. Judge Cara Hutson set Nunn’s bail at $1 million after he was previously ineligible for bail, court records show.

Nunn, who remains in custody at the High Desert Detention Center, is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 19 for a pre-preliminary conference, court records show.

San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officials said detectives assumed the investigation and believe Nunn is responsible for his son’s death. San Bernardino County Children and Family Services responded to take custody of the other children at the home. [Read Full Article]
